there is a major change in logging. 7.x is a file based logging where as in 8.x it is moved to database

nans4int, I believe DB based loggig is there in 7.1.2 as well..

yes there was but it is optional in 7x where as in 8.x it is mandatory

Adding 2 More from my knowledge:
1. There is an option to kill the hung service thread from IS Admin console in 8.x.
2. Save and Restore pipeline functionality has been added in the service level properties in 8.x
